What inspired you to start Particular Wears?
My headaches were always a struggle, and that’s what sparked the idea for the glasses. But then my love for the strange and unusual took over, and my husband joined in. Now we get to create pieces that are both functional and fascinating.
What's the story behind your shop name?
We dabble in the strange and curious nature of the world, offering wearable art that’s not just beautiful and unique—it’s also health conscious. Our glasses, for instance, help prevent headaches, which has been a game changer for someone like me who deals with chronic migraines.
What does sourcing look like for such a unique business?
We work with other small businesses to ethically source bones and insects. Then, with some creativity and a careful hand, we build a story—a vision of beauty in death.
What’s something you wish more people knew about your work?
They don’t realize we make glasses! Everyone gets caught up in the bones and artwork, but the glasses were actually where it all began.
Do you sell in person too?
Yes! You can usually find us at local pop-ups and oddities fairs. We love connecting with curious minds in real life.

Why is running your own business important to you?
